growing up in hollis, i wasn’t a kid whose parents were barely making ends meet nor was i the kid who had to scrounge up change to go to the deli afterwards to buy candy. but my parents weren’t millionaires, their main cause was to give their children the best life possible, even if that meant sacrificing their own personal wants and needs. every year i had a new book bag, new lunchbox in tow, new hello kitty pencil case, new books & supplies, etc. It was only until the later end of high school that i started rockin’ designer totes and expanding my fashion game. and with every new item came some new hate. “oh I dont know why she has to get that bag, i dont see what the big deal is.” (Yet you are rockin’ the non-authentic replica of the same bag. You obviously DO see what the big deal is.) or my personal favorite “sorry, i have to PAY MY OWN WAY, … my parents don’t support me.” um, as fucked up as it sounds, is that really my fault?

i’ve dealt with things like that my whole life and have even connected with others who have been shunned in the same way. why do i bring this up? because i thought this deep down resentment people had towards me laid only within that context. but today i was proven wrong.

i wont get into detail with what happened (because that’ll be another long post) but i’ll leave you with this: just be wary about negative people in your life. they are always around, and it is up to you to keep the people who will only benefit you, closer.

i’m glad to say that this black cloud has moved along its way, but i won’t forget the sunshine that used to break through it from time to time.

being positive can only hold an individual up for so long. you just gotta deal with life, roll with the punches, and then move the fuck on.

& i`m out.

in light of this operation, i’ve decided to share some helpful tips with you guys that i accumulate as i go through this process (btw the container store is having a MASSIVE sale right now. love that store):

Taken from: http://www.thecontainerstore.com

1. Take Inventory.

Begin by noting everything you would like to store in a particular closet. This includes hanging and folded clothing, shoes, accessories, linens and miscellaneous items, such as sporting equipment, luggage, gift-wrapping paper, etc.

2. Clean House.

Donate or hold a garage sale (this gives me an idea for a future post) for anything you don’t or can’t wear or use any more. Use the two-year rule — if you haven’t worn it in two years, it’s time to say goodbye to it. These items take up valuable space and probably won’t be missed.

3. Use all of the Available Space.

Be sure to select a closet system and completion products that maximize all of the available space, including vertical space from floor to ceiling and the often-wasted space behind the door.

don’t worry. i’ll take before & after pics so you guys can see the transformation.

& i`m out.

FTW.

How do YOU feel about Drake? When I ask this question, a lot of people tell me he’s either a cornball, he’s whack, or he’s “aight”. Why do people (and for the most part people from our generation) view him as such? Do we have a reason? He might be “The Flavor of the Month” but in order to become that, doesn’t one need to obtain some sort of lyrical skill? I think so. And in that case, I believe it takes more than just being “aight” to be associated with Lil Wayne, and more importantly, have Fabolous put you in one of his songs.

I, myself, have joked on Drake but there are people out there who come harsh. Do these reactions stem from an actual belief?

Just some food for thought people: Are we really judging this person on skill or are we just hatin’?

For the most part, people don’t have a legitimate reason to hate on him. Yes, I’ve seen the infamous Funk Master Flex “freestyle” video where he reads off his phone but one must admit, Drake NEVER said he was freestylin’. However, it was a tad bit embarrassing to see him ask Flex to redo the beat after he choked. But under that much pressure you mean to tell me YOU wouldn’t fuck up in some way or form?

After questioning people whose opinions were un-biased, the conclusion has been made that at some point and time, Drake will excel, or at least have some sort of future, in this game.

A few things Drake needs to work on are: 1. His flow and 2. His image. There are a good few songs/verses where he tends to go slightly off topic or that need some revision. For example, in “Successful” he goes, “… & she cried to me so I cried too, and my stomach was soakin’ wet, she only 5’2.” I get the reality that he is trying to ensue but surely he can come up with a line better than that. That line right there sounds like something I would come up with. And I am definitely NOT a lyrical genius.

His image is something Drake needs to definitely work on. Is he trying to convey to the audience that he’s normal just like them and how attempting to make it in the game is a struggle? Or is he a “make your bra –strap pop, all up in your slot” type of dude? It’s the classic identity struggle of Gentlemen vs. Thug and unfortunately for Drake, he must pick one. That’s like embodying Plies with Ne - Yo. It just won’t work.

Fine – tune these things and dude has a future.

But the most important thing he has to do is recover from knee surgery.

‘Cause rappin’ from a wheelchair isn’t a good look for Jim — I mean Drake. (whoops.)

& i`m out.
